Jollification Scheme

We all like to play games. When we hang out with friends or family, alone and often when we’re trying to run away from real life. It’s fun, we get it. But sometimes, it leaves us depressed afterwards… It’s not a productive thing to do per se and you realize that people around you have already started to gain more skills. Then, you’ll feel the anxiety of being left behind... But, you can’t just stop playing games!

But, what if we told you that there are games that can increase your brain function. Yup! You read that right, it can make you SMARTER!! (we do not hold any promises)

So, without further ado, let’s get right into Kepo’s game discoveries that can train your brain. These games will provoke your ability to think and it’s a lot of fun as well!

Splendor (board game)

Where to find : Online shops (shopee, tokopedia, etc.), board game shops, board game cafes

In Splendor, you play as merchants of the Renaissance buying gem mines, means of transportation, shops—all in order to acquire the most points. This game uses chip-collecting and card development that have you wreck your brain to make sure your business is the best among your friends. Once you have enough chips, you might even receive a visit from a noble at some point, that wants to do business with you and keep your sale up.

Minesweeper

Free to play

Where to find : web browser, play store, app store

Minesweeper is an old school game that is often overlooked. At first glance, this game might look complicated but the rules couldn’t be more simple! You just click a square and get a number. That number is the number of how many mines are surrounding it. Mark those mines with flags and clear the whole land without blowing up. With its simple rules and addictive gameplay, it is bound to grab the hearts of those who like to test their limits.

Ps. Try to find a tutorial online. You may find it confusing at first, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll love it like I do (honest review)

Memorado (app)

Freemium

Where to find : playstore, appstore

This app will provide you with not just fun activities but also scientifically proven brain workout for your brain. You could also challenge your friends and see who’s smartest in their all-new brain duel. The app also keeps track of your progress and will make personalized daily workouts to maximize your workout session.

Any Action Games

Yup! Again, you didn’t read that wrong. Surprisingly, scientists found out that action gamers have better motor skills. In an experiment, scientist tests out participants, who were asked to complete a series of ‘pattern discrimination task’ that tested their reaction time and identification skills, such as identifying fuzzy shapes on a screen. The result comes out that most participants who played action games (such as PUBG, Valorant, Call of Duty) complete the task faster than non-action gamers (people who play games like The Sims, Candy Crush, Hay Day). The scientist even concluded that action-gamers’ brains are able to create a better learning ‘template’ for the task at hand.

Thus, are the discovered games that kepo found out which can help you get smarter.

While these games do improve your brain function, it doesn’t mean that you can use this as an excuse to not study. Even to get good at a game, you have to learn and practice it continuously. Same thing as your school subject that you’re worst at. Being bad at a game doesn’t mean you can’t play and doing bad at a subject doesn’t mean you can’t do it. You just need to learn, practice, and experience it more and more until you finally get the hang of it and be good at it (or at least until you find a cheat on how to do it ;)).
