School uniform is a crucial component of a school. Similar to the logo, vision, and mission, the uniform of a school clearly shows the image, characteristics, or even the quality of the school itself. Let's take the example of the IPEKA school uniform. The plaid pattern with a green and beige color palette creates a simple and calming impression. The color green itself is often associated with generosity and love, a part of IPEKA's own name.
In this article, the Kepo team will explore some of the official school uniforms in several countries in the world that are interesting and meaningful to study. Check out the list, Kepoers!
Indonesia
First of all, we will start this interesting list with uniforms from our beloved country, Indonesia. Indonesia's official national school uniform varies according to the level of education. Uniquely, the difference is not too significant. Instead, the difference is only in the color, both the color of the bottom (clothing) and the background color of the logo in the pocket. The choice of colors for these uniforms is not just random, but there is a special philosophy of its own. The red color for elementary school represents cheerfulness and energy, blue color for junior high school represents self-confidence, and grayish blue color for senior high school depicts maturity. Not only that, there is an attractive logo bearing the slogan 'Tut Wuri Handayani' on the pocket that is listed on each uniform. The meaning of the motto is "from behind, a teacher must be able to provide encouragement and direction". That way, it is hoped that we can have a strong learning spirit, Kepoers!
South Korea
In contrast to Indonesia, which requires uniforms from elementary school, South Korea has just imposed a mandatory uniform regulation in secondary schools. Just like what we see in Korean drama series, the school uniforms there are quite westernised. For both men and women, the uniform set usually includes a white shirt sleeve and a collar, a jacket, a vest, and a tie. For boys, they wear regular trousers, while for girls, they wear long dress trousers and pleated skirts.
Japan
For anime lovers, you must be familiar with the uniformed style of the students there. They usually call their uniform as seifuku (制服). The common colors of this uniform are navy blue, white, light green, and black. For boys, there is a blazer model uniform and a gakuran model. For girls, there are blazer and sailor suit models. The uniform model of the blazer for boys and girls is the same, namely a white shirt on the inside and a blazer on the outside with short skirts or trousers as subordinates. Gakuran styles are usually black with the top having a button-up stand collar and trousers with a belt. Last but not least, the sailor uniform for girls is a traditional Japanese uniform. This uniform is like a navy uniform, consisting of a shirt with a sailor collar motif, a red tie, and a pleated tartan skirt.
United States of America
In contrast to countries in Asia, schools in the United States rarely require students to wear the official uniform. Based on data from the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), only 20 percent of all schools in the United States have uniforms as mandatory school uniforms. As a free nation, the United States chooses not to follow uniform rules. The idea behind American schools not making school uniforms compulsory is to restrict conformity and grant students more 'freedom' to express themselves.
That's some school uniforms in several countries in the world. Which country has the most unique school uniforms? According to the KEPO Team, Indonesia has indeed the best one!
